Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy

At Goldman Vein Institute, Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy is performed for patients in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Wellington and the surrounding areas.

This form of sclerotherapy is used to treat veins that are not visible at the skin’s surface. It may be performed following a laser procedure, or it can be used for patients that do not require laser treatment.

How is Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy Performed?

Dr. Goldman performs this procedure with the help of an ultrasound technologist. The ultrasound imaging is used to visualize the affected vein and guide placement of a small needle directly into the vein. Dr. Goldman injects the sclerosing agent, which causes scarring and closes the vein. This procedure may be done in conjunction with laser treatment, or used alone if the veins are not suitable for laser treatment.

We only use FDA approved medications that are proven safe and effective sclerosants. We do not use saline. Small volumes of the sclerosant are injected using a microfoaming technique. These treatments take approximately 45 minutes and are performed by the Doctor in our Jupiter or Wellington office.

How Much Does Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy Cost?

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

There is no downtime involved with this procedure, so you can go back to your usual activities. Possible side effects include swelling, bruising and redness. Each patient has a unique case, so the pain after treatment can vary. All of these side effects can be relieved with plenty of walking, and use of gentle analgesics. After treatment is complete you can expect the pain caused from your varicose veins to subside significantly.
