Visually guided sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice, used for the affected veins closer to the surface of the skin. This is the most common treatment used for spider veins and is considered the gold standard.

How is Sclerotherapy Performed?

Sclerotherapy involves the injection of FDA approved sclerosants to the readily visible veins. The chemical causes the vein walls to seal shut, and eventually this vein will turn into scar tissue and fade. It is used to treat spider veins on the skin’s surface; however it may be performed as an adjunct with other treatments if the patient has large vein disease.

In general, multiple sclerotherapy sessions are necessary for desired results. These treatments take less than 30 minutes, and are performed right in our Jupiter or Wellington office with no downtime.

What Can I Expect After Sclerotherapy?

You will be able to return to your normal activities after sclerotherapy treatments. During treatment, you may experience some bruising, swelling or discomfort. These symptoms usually go away shortly after treatment. Best of all, after treatment you will experience the desired results of reduction and loss of your spider veins!
