Minimally Invasive Treatments for Leg Veins

Leg veins can be unsightly and embarrassing, especially when living in South Florida. No one should have to hide under layers of clothes and cover up in our beautiful climate.

In addition to superficial issues, leg veins can be extremely painful. At Goldman Vein Institute, we value your comfort and desire to be pain free. Our offices specialize in two innovative procedures that treat leg vein issues. The Endovenous Laser Thermal Ablation (EVLT), or Endovenous Laser Treatment, and sclerotherapy procedures are minimally invasive and effective treatment options for those suffering from leg veins.

What Causes Leg Veins

Leg veins are caused by a number of factors. Though prominent in women, spider veins are not gender specific and can affect both men and women. The key contributing factors to leg vein development are:

Minimally Invasive Treatments from Goldman Vein Institute

There are several options to treat vein issues in your legs. Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELT, also referred to as Endovenous Laser Thermal Ablation or EVLT) is a fairly new procedure in the industry but has shown to be highly effective. Each of our doctors is certified to perform this procedure. ELT is an ultrasound-guided laser treatment used to treat refluxing saphenous veins in the legs.

The entire ELT procedure can be completed within 10 minutes and can be done at any of our convenient locations. ELT is well tolerated by most patients and individuals can return to normal activities following treatment. Additionally, most insurance carriers will provide coverage for patients needing ELT.

Goldman Vein Institute also offers two types of sclerotherapy – progressive refined sclerotherapy and VARITHENA. Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which our experienced doctors inject a liquid sclerosant into the affected veins, causing them to close. The body then absorbs the vein naturally.

Progressive refined sclerotherapy uses liquid sclerosants, whereas VARITHENA uses a foaming sclerosant. Treatment times vary by case, but generally take about 20 minutes per leg. Progressive refined sclerotherapy and VARITHENA are both minimally invasive, outpatient procedures.

How to Prevent and Treat Leg Veins at Home
