What is Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation?

Over half of the population will be affected by the small reddish or purple facial veins that are sometimes referred to as capillary veins or broken veins. Facial varicose veins are often found around the nose and cheeks, and like other types of vein issues, have several common causes.

Sun exposure, age, family history, pressure from long-term inflammation, obesity, or high blood pressure can cause damage to vessel walls. Additionally, simply rubbing or washing the skin too roughly may also be the cause of broken capillaries, especially around the delicate eye areas.

Aging can also be a factor in the development of facial spider veins due to weakened veins and skin. Certain skin diseases, smoking, exposure to pollutants or toxins, stress, insomnia, or a lack of physical activity can also be contributing factors. While varicose veins on the face are often a cosmetic concern, these veins can cause discomfort, burning, or itching.

Endovenous radiofrequency ablation is a highly-effective, minimally invasive laser treatment for varicose veins on the face. In the procedure, a varicose vein specialist provides consistent and uniform heat into the problem vein with a laser fiber. When the heat causes the vein walls to collapse and close, the blood is then naturally redirected to healthy veins.

The procedure can be performed in a doctor’s office in less than an hour, can provide immediate relief of symptoms, has a 98 percent success rate, and requires no general anesthesia or hospitalization. In fact, most patients experience little or no pain and can return to normal activity immediately.
